One of Warlords Battlecry III's great aspects is that you control persistant heroes that will follow you from battle to battle. You can train your hero in the diffucult land of Etheria, or play single maps with him in Skirmish mode. Then, you can even go online and try him out against other heroes all over the world.

There are 28 different classes of heroes and any race can become any class. The classes are:

Your hero is very important in battle. He converts the mines around the map to give your side resources to build a base and an army. There is no hero cap, so your hero can grow as much as you want him to. Every hero has unique abilities that makes his presence in battle very important. He can master in a sphere of magic and terrorize the opponent with his amazing spells. He can train in the art of combat and be in the front line of battle. Either way, your hero can also carry items. These items can be magical artifacts or just a small dagger. Either way, they will provide your hero with enhancements that will aid him no matter what his cause.
